The study of demons, is
increasingly being popularized
by the
modern media. Previously, the media only created
good witches,
now they are also creating good
demons and evil spirits. How many movies
have you
seen lately where
'demons' are playing the main roles?
Firstly - there is
no such thing as good witches.
The Bible is clear about this.
"Death is the punishment for witchcraft."
(Exo 22:18 CEV)
Now wait! Before we see
this a a license to go witch-hunting,
we have to understand this statement in the light of the New
Testament.
The fact is that
all of us
deserve death . . .
but Christ died this death on our behalf.
"Everyone has sinned and is far away from
God's saving presence." (Rom 3:23)
"For sin pays its wage---death; but God's
free gift is eternal
life in union with Christ Jesus our Lord." (Rom 6:23)
It is therefore not our
jobs to punish witches,
our calling is
simply to bring them to Christ.
One
fact still remains though, and cannot be reasoned away.
According to God's word, people who practice
witchcraft, (who
socialize with demons and evil spirits), are
abominations to God.
"Don't practice divination, sorcery,
fortunetelling, witchery, casting spells, holding séances, or
channeling with the dead. People who do these things are an
abomination to GOD."
(Deu 18:10-12 The Message)
Don't have
anything to do with witchcraft!
God's
commands are there for your protection.
If you play with fire,
you are bound to burn yourself.
Satan's demons and evil spirits have only
one objective . . . to destroy you!
"Be alert, be on watch! Your enemy, the
Devil, roams around like
a roaring lion,
looking for someone to devour." (1Pe 5:8)
"The thief comes only in order to steal,
kill, and destroy." (Joh 10:10)
The main weapons of demons
and evil spirits are weapons of deception
"From the very beginning he was a murderer
and has never been on the side of truth,
because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he is only
doing what is natural to him,
because he is a liar and the father of all lies." (Joh 8:44)
Secondly. There is
also no such
thing as a good demon!
Demons and evil spirits
are destroyers by
nature.
Demons are
intelligent spiritual beings, probably fallen angels, in search of
physical
bodies to occupy. Mostly they desire this because this allows them
to enjoy sex, as they themselves are incapable. Demoniacs are
infamous for their sexual perversions.
"For when the dead rise to life, they will be
like the angels in heaven and will not marry." (Mar 12:25)
Although
some people equate demons and evil spirits, demons are considered to
possess more complex personalities and can indulge in a
conversation. Most evil spirits manifest singular
personalities by which they are also known, such as fear, lust,
hatred, anger or insanity.
Demons and evil spirits
have only one purpose ... and that is to torment.
"Some people brought to Jesus a man who
could not talk because he had a
demon." (Mat 9:32)
"Then some people brought to Jesus a man who
was blind and
could not talk because he had a demon." (Mat
12:22)
"My daughter has a demon and is
in a terrible condition." (Mat
15:22)
"A spirit attacks him with a sudden
shout and throws him into a fit, so that he
foams at the mouth; it keeps on hurting him and
will hardly let him go! ....
As the boy was coming, the demon knocked
him to the ground and threw him
into a fit."
(Luk 9:39,42)
Now, this is a
good time to remind you that,
if you are in
Christ,
you have
nothing to fear from demons and evil spirits.
"Listen! I have given you authority, so that
you can walk on snakes and scorpions
and overcome all the power of the Enemy, and
nothing will hurt you." (Luk 10:19)
'Snakes' and 'scorpions' are symbolical of
demons and evil spirits,
but God proved later (in the life of Paul) that this can also be
interpreted literally.
Contrary to
this, if you don't know Christ, you have
no
defense from demons and evil spirits!
|
"God was
performing unusual miracles through Paul. Even
handkerchiefs and aprons he had used were taken to the
sick, and their diseases were driven away, and the evil
spirits would go out of them.
"Some Jews who
traveled around and drove out evil spirits also tried to
use the name of the Lord Jesus to do this. They said to
the evil spirits, "I command you in the name of Jesus,
whom Paul preaches."
"Seven brothers,
who were the sons of a Jewish High Priest named Sceva,
were doing this. But the evil spirit said to them, "I
know Jesus, and I know about Paul; but you---who are
you?" The man who had the evil spirit in him attacked
them with such violence that he overpowered them all.
They ran away from his house, wounded and with their
clothes torn off."
(Acts 19:11-16) |
There are no
alternatives!
If you want to be safe from demons and evil spirits, it is Jesus or nothing.
About this,
Jesus said the following:
"Remain united to me, and I will remain
united to you. A branch cannot bear fruit by itself;
it can do so only if it remains in the vine. In the same way you
cannot bear fruit unless you
remain in me. "I am the vine, and you are the branches. Those who
remain in me, and I in them,
will bear much fruit; for you can do nothing
without me. Those who do not remain in me are
thrown out like a branch and dry up; such branches are gathered up
and thrown into the fire,
where they are burned." (Joh 15:4-6)

Exorcism,
deliverance and
spiritual warfare
As mentioned in
the previous case study, exorcism is about getting the demons and
evil spirits to leave a person.
Deliverance is also concerned about aftercare, that is,
keeping them out.
To deliver is to set free. Freedom cannot have any
real meaning if it only lasts
for a few days. It must have
long-lasting value.
Spiritual Warfare, in contrast, is
all-inclusive. Not only does it include exorcism and deliverance, it
actually focuses on prevention, not cure. Spiritual warfare includes
all the processes required to prevent demonic problems. This is
covered by the
Armor of God, details of
which can be found on this web-site.

happens, remember...
